About the Role
Axiom Builders is looking to bring on an Estimator to support the costing process on various mixed-use, commercial and residential construction projects, including some of Axiom’s most complex, iconic projects in Lower Mainland. Reporting to the Senior Estimator, the Estimator will have the opportunity to shadow experienced estimators to maintain cost databases and effectively communicate project estimate details to clients, owners, architects and other project stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

  • Use knowledge of construction methods to determine the most cost-effective approach;
  • Review bid packages from sub-contractors and suppliers;
  • Coordinate and assemble estimating input, while reviewing designs to identify opportunities for cost savings;
  • Conceptual estimating from preliminary drawings through final cost analysis;
  • Communicate with subtrades to assist in budgeting to ensure they understand their scope of work;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Estimating leadership team.

What you Bring
The ideal candidate is a recent graduate of a construction or engineering program with long-term aspirations to be an estimator, cost consultant or quantity surveyor. As a newcomer to the industry, you are eager to join a larger organization with a growing project list across BC and Alberta in order to gain a broad exposure of the profession. You have a numbers-driven, detail-oriented way of working. You enjoy working collaboratively in a team environment but can be depended on to excel independently by being resourceful.  You value openness and transparent communication with your manager, who you will see as your mentor. Our Must-Haves

  • At least 1-2 years of estimating experience with a general contractor;
  • Recent graduate from a certificate, diploma or degree in Building Technology, Construction Management, Estimating, Construction Technology, Engineering, or a related field;
  • Some field construction experience will be considered an asset;
  • Some exposure to or academic experience with computerized measurement software;
  • Excellent two-way communication; confidence and ability to communicate with clients and all levels of management;
  • Strong work ethic – eager to learn, resourceful, committed.

Innovation + Technology Coordinator

The Role
Reporting to the I+T Manager, you’ll play a key role in progressing ETRO’s journey in disrupting the construction industry and changing the way we build through the use of technology. You’ll apply your knowledge and experience to integrate new technologies into our current construction methodologies and find ways to build better, smarter, and more efficiently. This role will work across a range of IT disciplines from developing web applications and automation of business operation solutions to managing ETRO’s network security and infrastructure and responding to our team’s IT requests.

Here’s what you’ll get up to as Innovation + Technology Coordinator:

  • Provide IT support to the office and site teams, locally and remotely.
  • Solve IT tickets related to: Windows OS, Web Applications, Network, Internet, Email, Data Integration,  and Input & Output device issues.
  • Manage ETRO’s Google Suite directory.
  • Create and update knowledge base documents to help and guide users.
  • Work closely with the I+T Manager to ensure policies and procedures, instructions, and guidelines of the I+T department are followed.
  • Develop and maintain simple business process automation using Google Apps Script (Javascript), API Integration and React App dashboards.
  • Set up and maintain construction sites (including all network devices and configurations, as well as, all IT infrastructure: computers, printers, time lapse cameras, videoconference devices).
  • Extract data from different sources (API, SQL, BI, and other data files such as Excel, Sheets, etc.) to create KPIs dashboards and reports.
  • Research, test, manage and contribute to new business development solutions & technology.

Skills / Experience

  • Post-secondary education in computer science,  computer engineering, or related education course.
  • 2 years of related work experience (IT Administration and/or Web Development).
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Application Architectures, Web Application Architectures, Mobile Computing Devices, Windows OS, Google Suite Administration & Apps, and Cloud Computing.
  • Strong HTML5/CSS/Sass experience.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript.
  • Experience with converting design files into responsive HTML, CSS, and JS.
  • Experience integrating web applications using web service Rest APIs.
  • Experience with web hosting and DNS management, especially AWS.
  • Experience with React App.
  • Proficiency with version control using Github.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of MS Windows 10 administration and support.

We are in search of an Office Coordinator to join the LNS Team. In this position, you will be responsible for providing support to field employees in all aspects of coordination of the site, site services, and safety preparation, throughout the project and project close out.

You will be accountable for: 

  • Supporting field project management and crews in project planning, kick-off and safe execution of projects.
  • Creating and administer documentation pertaining to the set up, planning and close out of the project.
  • Communicating with team members and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring the team has the facilities, materials, tools and resources to operate safely and effectively

General Duties

  • General assistance for PM/FM/CM
  • Office Administration/Receptionist/Procurement Duties as needed
  • Assisting in developing proposal documents, update document templates as needed with new rates and procedures.
  • Assisting with new employee paperwork, training, and support, including site specific orientation and NorLand Orientation.

Coordination / Management

  • Assisting PM with documents as needed.
  • Job creation, tracking and administration in Spectrum
  • Assisting PM with budget process.
  • Assisting team with the creation of a workplan.
  • Assisting with mobilization/demobilization for procurement.

Safety Preparation

  • Ensuring all safety plans and procedures are provided; exposure control plan, daily safety binders, tickets are checked for expiry
  • Managing material to be used on the job and SDS documents for all materials.

Site Preparation

  • Coordinating with yard and vendors to organize items and services needed for site.
  • Assisting with the creation of a job specific Foreman binder.
  • Liaising with procurement for any job specific tasks.

Project Tasks

  • Creating daily timesheets to be reviewed by PM.
  • Ensuring all documentation, including safety documentation, is created daily, and stored in applicable folders.
  • Assisting with procurement tasks, PO’s, scheduling, tracking costs, invoicing throughout job.
  • Managing site services.

Project Close-Out

  • Ensuring all job documentation is scanned and saved.
  • Final invoicing, PO closure.

To qualify for this role, you must have:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a customer-facing role with demonstrated communication skills. Post-secondary diploma in in administration or a related field would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple processes at the same time.
  • A team player with the ability to listen and collaborate.
  • A demonstrated problem solver and self-starter with the ability to take initiative in a constantly changing work environment.
