Along with a full-time fund development role in the non-profit sector, Melissa Pettit manages strategic partnerships for MAG Solar, a progressive solar solutions company based in the Eastern Fraser Valley. Along with providing residential and commercial solar solutions, MAG is deeply committed to supporting the BC agricultural sector’s decarbonization efforts. The MAG team is honored to be recognized as recipients of a 2024 BCBusiness 30 Under 30 award and the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce 26th Annual Business Excellence Awards ‘New Business of the Year’ (2022).
A passionate advocate for community investment, Melissa is spearheading programs for both organizations she represents that focus on educating and empowering underrepresented communities ensuring equitable access to community healthcare programs and solar energy solutions. She is a graduate of marketing communications from British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) with 8 years in the electrical industry representing leading national electrical wire and cable distributors on major projects in mining, oil and gas, renewable energy and transportation.
Melissa is an active member with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Vancouver chapter, serving on the association’s IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) Committee. Taking the lead on the CCW Bursary Committee, Melissa is dedicated to increasing awareness of the bursary program, ensuring that more women who aspire to become construction professionals or want to pursue a career in skilled trades have opportunities to apply for funding in 2024.
As Director of Communications, Melissa plays a pivotal role in crafting and disseminating key messages that bolster advocacy efforts aimed at creating an equitable future for all women in the construction industry. Through strategic communication campaigns and targeted messaging, CCW aims to amplify the voices and stories of women, driving awareness and support for initiatives that ensure inclusivity and equal opportunities within the sector.
